Charity clothing drive boosts confidence for Australians returning to the workforce

Here in the North, one of our core workplace values is caring for each other, our environment, and the wider community.

Embodying this ethos, our Environment Team and Women’s Network recently orchestrated a collaboration with not-for-profit organisations Dress for Success and Dress for Work. This initiative focused on a clothing drive aimed at collecting professional attire to assist Australians seeking to re-enter the workforce.

"Part of our culture of care is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a chance to thrive in their careers," Emma Hale, Environment & Sustainability Business Partner said.

"By partnering with Dress for Success and Dress for Work, we're extending a hand to our community members, helping them regain their confidence and take bold steps toward a brighter future."

Dress for Success, a global not-for-profit organisation, supports women looking to return to work by providing them with professional attire, and helping them prepare for job interviews. Through their network of support and provision of professional attire, they equip individuals with the tools they need to present themselves confidently and succeed in their endeavors.

Like Dress for Success, Sydney-based social enterprise, Dress for Work provides quality clothing and job-readiness training for boys and men who have experienced setbacks, so that they can take back control of their lives. Dress for Work complements this effort by offering tailored employment workshops and mentoring programs, providing practical guidance and support to individuals as they navigate the job market.

“The drive offered the team an excellent opportunity for the team to declutter their wardrobes while supporting Australians to feel confident and prepared to re-enter the workforce,” Emma said.

“Over a month, we were able to collect a grand total of 140 donations of professional attire,” she added.

“By aiding individuals on their path back to employment, we are contributing not only to their personal success but also to the prosperity of the communities where we live and work.”

This is the second year Confluence Water have participated in the clothing drive, with 271 items collected over  the two years.

Our team is proud to create a tangible difference in the lives of fellow Australians. To learn more about Dress for Success and Dress for Work, please visit their websites.
